Community Builders, At-Will Employee Position (Will be working with Riddle, Sutherlin & Roseburg districts)
Douglas Education Service District is seeking Community Builders to work as at-will employees. These positions will work with Riddle, Sutherlin, and/or Roseburg School Districts for up to 100 hours through June 30, 2021.
JOB SUMMARY:
Douglas County ESD holds a vision that each of their 13 districts is deeply connected and authentically engaged with their communities. They have identified goals of increasing listening to constituents (especially those highlighted in the Student Success Act and in the communities at large), and providing meaningful engagement opportunities that build connections between schools and communities.
To bring this vision into focus, Douglas County ESD will embrace the Community Building Approach (CBA), articulated by the Ford Institute for Community Building (a department of the Ford Family Foundation). Community Building defined simply is “working together to make things better.” This approach is a framework of the key elements, principles, and practices it takes to build community. The approach was developed over time with the input of communities, regional and national experts. It is customizable and recognizes that each community is unique.
To implement the CBA, the district will build capacity in school districts by hiring “community builders” who hold vast knowledge and connection to the communities they will serve. Community Builders will work together to study and identify the aspects of the CBA essential to their goals and then fine-tune individual approaches to the communities.
